Moniker: Wadmaasi

Country of Residence: USA

Education: B.A. English Writing (Fiction) from the University of Pittsburg

How would we know you: You wouldn't, really, which made this Spotlight request a surprise. My name used to be in the StarSiege credits, but they ganked those out of the Core Players Council builds before the wider beta test. My sole claim to unfame is that, in the full-color "COMPENDIUM: History of the Conflict" that came with StarSiege, on the fifth page of "The Fire" section is a small inset on the bottom-left of the page that says "H.E.R.C.U.L.A.N. Humaniform-Emulation Roboticized Combat Unit with Leg-Articulated Navigation." I made that up (he said proudly). Not the HERCULAN part, of course, but turning it into an acronym and then spelling out the long form of it was all me. I was terribly bored in class one day and came up with a pair of thoughts on it, posted it to the old StarSiegePlayers Writers forum, and Blake "Spiffcat\Hexabolic" Hutchins about flattered me to death by asking if they could use it. Hey, look! I'm actually in the Compendium's credits under "Additional Contributions." Hell. I never knew that. Dynamix sure did love their fans.

More recently I've been of (extremely limited!) use to ConfigSys.boy! as a fiction-HTMLer and slacker news-junkie at the various incarnations of TribesRolePlayers, where I've always been a shameless forumwhore.

Favourite Games: Currently I play MechWarrior4: Mercenaries more than anything else. All-time favorites include EarthSiege (I bought a CD-ROM drive so I could get the disc version), TRIBES (though T2 is conceptually the far better game), WingCommander, Quake II (never could get into Quake), and Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

Gaming Roles: Usually I'm the brainlessly aggressive one who just doggedly keeps charging straight into the enemy's thickest concentration of defenses and dying ignominously in an endless karmic cycle. d=

Gaming Rig(s): Almost brand new!
Athlon XP 3200+
ATI Radeon 9800PRO 256MB
NEC MultiSync FP2141SB 22" monitor (primary)
Hitachi SuperScan 812 21" monitor (secondary)
30GB UDMA133 system drive
120GB UDMA133 gaming drive (this is a replacement for an 80GB that went bad; boy did I luck out on that RMA!)
Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick (stay THE HELL away from the USB version, the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, as they are constructed of crappy electronics; I killed 3 in less than a month and a half)
Generic keyboard/mouse plugged into a 4-port KVM which routes to my surfing machine; I've also got my Xbox plugged into a VGA converter and then into the KVM. *heh*
Networked via a D-Link DI-604 4-port router that feeds into a cablemodem; very easy to use piece of equipment, the DI-604, I'm quite happy with it.

Gaming Groups / Squads / Clans: Currently the only group I'm active in is Team Banzai (, a Mercs unit, of which I'm the nominal duly elected "leader" (until 05MAY2004, when we elect the next sucker).

Favourite Sites:,,, and

Favourite Book: How 'bout favorite author instead? Anything by David Weber.

Hobbies / Activities / Interests: Reading//Writing//Watching science-fiction and space-opera. Games, of course. (=

Accomplishments / Achievements: Finished my first novel (75k words) at 18, second (150k words) at 20. Third is taking its own sweet time, for which I blame Quake II and the attendant descent into non-stop multiplayer gaming. *heh*

Blurb: I love my wife! I'm sorry you didn't get that job you interviewed for yesterday, dear, but you're only 25 and a woman as intelligent, dedicated, and passionately devoted to her career as you has nothing to fear from the future! (Just so no one thinks I'm some kind of perv, I'm 27 myself.)
