Though it was never heavily used in Tribes 1, the Plasma gun is a very deadly weapon in close and medium ranges. It's a little faster in reloading it's shots vs. the disc launcher and it's blast radius is quite similar. Hence it's name, it shoots super heated balls of plasma at it's target, which proves to be a very painful experience
