Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Life as you know it has been nearly obliterated by a comet named Gigantic, and all the world has been thrown into complete chaos. Where the international governments have failed, greedy corporate conglomerates have picked up the pieces.Along with uncomprehensible destruction, Gigantic delivered never before seen potential in energy production. Minute amounts of the fragments of Gigantic are able to exert nearly unlimited amounts of energy. The largest corporate unions are quick sieze this opportunity. Soon after the Terran aftermath, CINTEC, BiTron, and Nitro vie for control of all the Earth's remaining resources.
Shortly after this industrial revolution, open warfare breaks out among the corporations. Previously advanced technology proves to be less than adequate for a corporate war. Technology advances rapidly, and soon remotely controlled robots are developed. These prove to be unworthy at first, but hackers quickly push the enevelope of remote technology, and ARMs (Armored Robotic Mechanics) are born. Using sub-atomic particles as never before, these hackers, dubbed "Edge-Walkers" are able to control ARMs from anywhere. Location becomes a moot point, and warfare accelerates on an astronomical scale.
As ARMs become commonplace, industry grows at a phenomonal pace. Exploration quickly spreads throughout the world and into the solar system. An unlimited energy source and remote control of an instantly responsive ARM allows humans to explore and develop as never before.
With such resources available, the competition accelerates among the corporate congolomerates. Hackers are readily recruited and implanted with the newly developed Overdrive Device, giving them enhanced control of an ARM and near immortality. Such pilots are dubbed "Edge-Walkers". Many underground hackers join the fray as mercenaries, and are soon hunted like dogs.
