The Tribes 2 Beacon came in the mail today and from it we snipped out the regulatory FAQ for those of you who do not subscribe to it. Enjoy!

IV. MONTHLY FAQ

Once a month we take a collection of your questions and we answer them in the next month's newsletter. Here are a few of the more frequently asked questions from last month:

Q: Will Tribes 2 passenger-carrying vehicles emit warning sounds when they are about to blow up? That way the poor passengers can bail-out before they are blown up with the vehicle.

A: The vehicles in Tribes 2 have a damage meter and an energy meter, just as the player does. When riding in a vehicle, you will always be able to tell if the vehicle is about to be destroyed, so that you can eject if need be. You will also get a "missile lock" tone if a weapon is locked on to the vehicle. If your vehicle is on it's last legs, you might want to bail out.

Q: In one of the Tribes 2 movies I saw the vehicle creation pad and I was wondering if a player would be launched by the spinning arms on the side of the pad. This might be fun, and you could save a lot of energy in your pack, cuz you'll get a boost.

A: No :) But that would be pretty funny to see.

Q: Will you have to have your own big server to create levels or can you create them anytime you want? And how can you send a level to someone for them to play it?

A: You will be able to create maps offline with the included "Point and Click" Terrain Editor. If you are trying to join a game that has a map that you do not have, it will automatically be downloaded to your CPU from the server that is hosting the game.

Q: With America getting the game first will there be another server for the UK because all our names may disappear and that is not fair we hold our names with honor. Where do we stand in the UK?

A: The European and UK release of Tribes 2 will be nearly simultaneous with the North American release. The issue of screen names should not be a problem for the majority of players.

Q: Can you have just a Bot game without being online? I'd really like it if you could because I only have a 56k modem (sniff).

A: T2 can be played online or offline. You add up to 16 Bots into an offline game.

Q: How smart is the AI? Will it be more challenging than spoonbot? Will they get stuck? (keep walking straight into walls). What can they do? (cap flag?, pilot?, escort?, repair?, deploy turrets?, etc...)

A: Tribes 2 has to most Intelligent Computer AI seen to date. They won't get stuck, and will cap the flag, escort, repair, and otherwise perform the roles you assign them.

Q: I was wondering if Tribes 2 will let you use a joystick when you're driving the vehicles.

A: Yep.

Q: Will original tribes skins work in Tribes 2?

A: No... Tribes 2 has completely new models with much higher polygon counts. We will be supplying people with templates and the parameters required so they can make their own skins for all the armor types.

Q: I have been noticing in the trailer that the blaster bullets bounce all over the place, is that a secondary shot, or is it the primary shot?
