This is our vision of Realm Wars. The Torque Game Engine is up to the task, and we will develop the back end systems to allow even more expansion before this vision is achieved. Our goal is to release early and release often, never breaking the game. This will allow us to quickly find out what is working and what is not.

Fantasy team combat on an epic scale
Realm Wars allows massive numbers of players to team up to fight battles in a real time action based format. After choosing a realm, the player chooses from one of ten different races, each with different base abilities and characteristics. Next, the player can highly customize the look of his character, outfit it with an impressive array of armor, weapons, and items, and set up skills to optimize different roles the character may engage in. This character or others stored on the server can then be taken into simple team based skirmishes, controlled battles, or epic wars, some of which are controlled by an all seeing dungeon master. Battlegrounds are sized according to the number of players, and can be different every time, or, in some cases, they are created by level builders, the live team, or through the use of DM level creation tools. There is no "grunting" or leveling in Realm Wars, rather, play is action based, and more reliant on the skills and actions of the player than on random dice rolls, hit points, and character levels. As the player progresses, his character’s community recognition increases, he is honored with medals and medallions, and rewarded with an increasing ability to modify the look of his armor and weapons. In addition, long time players get a better chance of obtaining rare or unique weapons, armors, or items. Realm Wars will have a large number of hand held weapons, multi-player weapons, magic abilities, and transportation methods. Epic battles will be fought with ranged weapons, but a particular emphasis will be placed on team based hand to hand combat that is in-depth enough to allow close formation battles.
