Yahoo! Games Steps Up to Bat

Coming rather unexpectedly is Yahoo! Games' preview of Tribes: Vengeance. This preview is the same old same old but suggests a release date of October 12, 2004, which is in agreement with Electronic Boutique's shipping date. And now for the obligitory quote:

One particular feature should help new players out. "Skiing," a classic Tribes technique involving skimming the ground at great speed, has been made much easier -- it's just a matter of holding the space bar. With all friction removed from your character's feet, sliding downhill is very natural. With judicious application of thrust to clear uphill gradients and keep up your speed, you can cover longer distances very fast. Picking out a good route still requires practice, and it's very easy to slam headlong into a building or pillar, so old Tribes pros shouldn't throw up their hands in horror just yet.
