 Update Overhaul

Being busy playing the game itself, I haven't had much time to actually post information concerning it, so quite a list of news has piled on my desk (luckily Mhaddy has been there to keep things from going to an utter standstill ).
So to start things off, there are two new reviews of the game. Today, Access Gamer released a review that covers the game quite well and reveals that, for once, the author has played at least one of the games in the series and understands it's elements: Vehicles do make a comeback, however, but veterans will be disappointed with their function. Since the general size of each arena is smaller than the previous games, with the emphasis on faster movement, Vengeance isn’t as dependent on tanks and aircraft for transportation. Of course, they do play a role in certain situations but you’ll likely find that using your jetpack or “ski†capabilities will provide the same effects with increased maneuverability. Plus, the lack of a selection will make most players stray away from vehicles all together due to the fact that its human nature to grow bored of what we have access to in a constant basis. All in all the vehicles situation is a matter of personal preference - you either cherish the vehicles and are disappointed in Irrational Games decision to cut back on them, or you embrace the fast movement of the game without the vehicles, making the combat more personal.
Not having much bad to say, Access Gamer gave it a final score of 8.4 out of 10.
Our next review comes from eToyChest who describes the game as decent but still better than most first person shooters: The single player campaign has a story behind it, and that story is conveyed in the cut scenes which break up the action. There's both arena-style bot matches and missions, detailing the story of the struggle between the Tribes and the Imperials, who exiled the Tribes to separate planets. The missions themselves are decent, but they're broken up by quasi-multiplayer bot matches which are quite dull. It gets a bit redundant to play the same arena a few rounds in a row, utterly dominating the incompetent AI each and every time. Of course, it's better than the string of plain bot matches presented in Unreal Tournament 2004, and certainly better than the nonexistent single player in Tribes 1 and 2, but it still falls short.
All things considered, eToyChest has given the game a rating of 80%.
Next on the list of items to cover comes an article from GameSpot. Rather than a review this time, GameSpot has released an actual WalkThrough of the game. Covering everything from what weapon is good for what, to an actual step by step instructional page for each individual level, this walkthrough has everything you could want in getting started and finished with the game; however, I cannot vouch for the validity of the walkthrough as I would rather beat the game by my own accord than follow predetermined steps, so don't take my word for it.
Our next article comes from TribesRolePlayers. ConfigSys.boy! is at it again and has posted some clarifications as to exactly what Mercury is and what he is doing in the story for those who are a bit confused. Without revealing spoilers to the plot of Vengeance, the best explanation was given by Thrax, former producer of the game: The idea was that Mercury was part of a small group, possibly derived from the metagens, who have been living close to / with humanity since shortly after the siege ended (define shortly however you'd like - I wouldn't think too shortly as suspicions would be quite high to start with). Mercury's method of existence would be much like that of our Mr. Weathers. Body to body as need be. Perhaps with the technology to vat-grow bodies that would become the preferred method of transfer, but really, the only difference between Harabec and Mercury is the origin of their intelligence.
What exactly was behind Mercury's long term goals I can't say. We may never know.
The clarification intro page can be found here, but be warned that if you go farther than that first page, you are likely to run across some spoilers.
At the end of our overhaul, we find a new resource that will provide you with an ongoing list of LAN parties that will be covering Tribes: Vengeance and registration information regarding them.
To recap, here's a list of the latest updates and links to them:
