HomeLAN Does Vengeance

For those of you who still have not decided whether to buy the game and those who just want to see what others think of Tribes: Vengeance, HomeLAN Fed has released their own review. Overall the review reflects very well on the game; the only bad things mentioned were the rather annoying bugs and the sub-par packaging used. With only minor cons, HomeLAN Fed gave the game a 92%:

In retrospect however, it's worth noting that the game isn't perfect at this point, and there are a couple of outstanding issues with the game that while they shouldn't discourage players from picking up the game, should be fixed. While this doesn't have Tribes 2 beat in the bugs department (Tribes 2 was known for too many patches, including an infamous rollback patch that undid a patch), of most importance as far as bugs go is an issue with voice/sound-effect speed in single player cutscenes, where characters can sometimes end up sounding like chipmunks. This makes it very hard to keep engrossed in the single player story, although between sub titles and the fact that it only occurs when 3D audio mode is used means that there is a reasonable work-around. For multiplayer, there is a particularly annoying bug with the flag where it will get stuck in ceilings and other odd places, and has to return on its own before the game can continue; it's realistic in that it's like playing Baseball and someone has knocked the ball over the neighbor's fence, but that doesn't mean it's an enjoyable reproduction. There are also a couple more minor glitches in multiplayer, although they aren't show stoppers; our biggest concern is simply that there are so few people playing the game for it being out for nearly 2 weeks (Ed note: it hasn't been released in Europe yet, that's on the 22nd) �" a player count at 9pm EST on Monday showed only around 700 people online. This won't stop someone from enjoying the game, but it makes it a bit hard to find a good game at times.
