Halo 2.5 on the Horizon?

Amid all the rumours of Bungie's big release of its upcoming downloadable content, we now might have some direct evidence of how and when it's going to be released. Over at IGN Xbox, they posted an interesting article which linked to the Korean Microsoft Xbox page, which listed "Halo 2 X-Pack (Expansion Pack)" under its "Coming Soon" page. IGN also reported that this release would be a disc that cost $19.95.

Its interesting to point out that on this week's edition of Bungie's Weekly Whatsupdate, Frankie made reference to a major announcement about the details of their new multiplayer maps, and how they would attempt to make it available to as many people as possible. Releasing an expansion disc seems like the most logical way of making the content available to those who don't have Xbox Live, which seems to give some truth to this story.

Another eyebrow raising fact is that when you click on the link to the Korean Xbox page, there is no mention of this Expansion pack anymore. Perhaps they realized their little foible and took it down in an attempt to keep the surprise a surprise.

In any event, its all speculation at this point. For the definitive answers, it looks like we'll have to check out Bungie.net next week for the big announcement.
