Meltdown 3 in the makes

Jasio of Keen Dreams has announced that Meltdown 3, a total conversion mod for Tribes: Vengeance, is in the makes. Here's part of what he had to say about it:

MD3 is the continuation on the Meltdown series of mods based around Tribes, and Tribes 2. Our latest mod, known as Project:MD3 (name wont be released yet) will be based off of the Tribes: Vengeance engine. We are currently using Ut2k3 as our base of development prior to porting the game to Tribes:Vengeance.

What is MD3 about?...
Well to put it in simple terms, by making a game set in the past (Tribes:Vengeace) the developers are restricting themselves to following a set timeline which is dictated through Starsiege, all the way up to Tribes 2. Our approach is rather different, we are moving on ahead and MD3 will take place about 150-200 years in the future from where Tribes 2 left off.

So what does that mean?...
This means that we are free to develop a plot and timeline of our own, without restrictions. It also allows us to advance the current weapons technologies as we see in Tribes, but also introduce new weapons, and a whole new approach to game play. The game will still retain its original "tribes feel" but will be more expansive with a greater amount of weapons, and vehicles on hand for the player to utilize.
