Sun and Shadows and the SS:2845 Writing Team

The people over at Sun and Shadows, after a few months of work, got the ability to ask a few questions. The result is a very nice, very extensive interview with Hexabolic, Velax, and ConfigSys.boy! And now for the obligatory quote:

JIHAAD: What are your inspirations for writing the history for SS:2845?

HEXABOLIC: I always like to refer back to the fiction adage “things get worse.” That means when you have characters in a story, things must get worse for your characters in order for you to produce compelling conflict. The second point is that things have to get worse in fresh and interesting ways.

That said, we’ve also tried to identify and preserve the core thematic direction of Starsiege, namely the familial conflicts (parent-child and brother-brother) and the powerful issues of authority, humanity, rebellion, and hubris. That’s a lot to cover, but you can find it all starkly displayed in Starsiege’s conflicts.
