 The Future of Starsiege:2845
Thu Feb 5th, 2004
In a post that Trajan made today, he brought some very important news as to the eventual distribution of Starsiege:2845. First off, the game will not be shipping with Tribes:Vengeance at the end of 2004. This is due to a number of reasons:
Due to the size of the game (read: lots and lots of content), Sierra can't afford to include the extra CDs with T:V.
Because of how popular this mod has become, Sierra wants to keep their options open and assuming the team doesn't screw things up, it may get it's own box.
However, building on the previous point, if they do screw it up, Sierra doesn't want to include a, "...lousy product as an inclusion."
Trajan does offer these comforting words in response to the hordes of screamin' n00bs: Provided the game turns out the way we invision, it may get it's own box, as mentioned above. This is what Sierra is hoping for. This is also what the staff would prefer as well, for several reasons I won't go into at this time.
We don't have to rush to meet a Q4 release date. While I know that may not sound good to some of you who are eagerly anticipating this game, realize that not having to absolutely meet that deadline means that we can make sure our final release is as bug free and feature rich as both you and we on the staff want it to be. Not some half-assed slop job rushed out the door to make a ship date. Be advised though, that despite what I just said, we are still going to try our damndest to make that Q4 deadline.
In the event that the game does not get it's own box, naturally, it'll be available for download on the 'net. For more information, check out the thread.
Secondly, there is a pair of Staff Interviews posted on their forums. This pair covers the Producer, Trajan, and "Team Leader", Lujan. Check 'em out.
Lastly, Hex has posted the year of 2835 on the forums. Be sure to catch up on the timeline.
