Project Halo Weekly Update and Poll

SanchezTheLlama of Project Halo: Webwar Evolved has posted this week's update to the HBO Forums. There are some new screenshots of the pistol, two new musical pieces, and some information about development progress.

Although this game was originally supposed to be free as in Open Source, where anyone could download the code and change it, one of the developers has purchased the Torque engine: the same engine used for Tribes 2. If the Project Halo team were to go ahead and use Torque to build the game, they could not distribute it as Open Source. They still plan to offer the game for free, but users would not be able to look at the code's inner workings. For those gamers that just want to play, using the Torque engine would make sense.
