GameRankings has compiled a new Tribes: Vengeance preview which, although not releasing new information, highlights the features of the Tribes franchise that made it what it is, and then adds on to that the features which will supposedly make Tribes: Vengeance. Here's some of what they have to say:

Tribes is a franchise long overdue for more attention, the original slipped under the radar of a large majority of gamers when it was released back in 1998 and was well ahead of its time with its multiplayer only focus and very player orientated experience. Unlike other fps experiences such as Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament, Tribes was very much more a pure experience, stripped of unnecessary complicated weaponry and environments and replaced them with a variety of dedicated weapons and purely functional maps, allowing the player conflicts and tactics created by the community to be the driving force behind continued enjoyment rather than the limited thrill of gimmicky weaponry and maps. The introduction of the jetpack also helped separate Tribes from pretty much every other fps title on the market and it soon carved it’s own little niche.

Also, GameSpot has released two new screenshots: one featuring the amazing water detail of the engine, and another is a picture of a Blood Eagle heavy.
